5G-Ecosystem – Annex for Members

As of December 2025, GSA had catalogued 4,058 announced 5G devices, with 3,658 (90.1%) commercially available — reflecting a 27.7% increase over the past year. The ecosystem spans over 40 device form factors from 330 manufacturers.

Key highlights from the December 2025 update include:

  • Phones continue to dominate, with 2,165 models (at least 2,076 commercially available).
  • Industrial routers or modems (391) retain second place, followed by modules (380), fixed wireless access CPE (359) and hot spots (114).
  • At least 260 fixed wireless access devices for indoor and outdoor use are now commercially available.
  • GSA identified 1,092 devices supporting standalone 5G in sub-6 GHz bands; 898 are commercially available.
  • Regarding spectrum, 81.7% of devices support sub-6 GHz, but only 5.2% support millimetre wave. Dual support is found in just 3.3% of devices. Band n78 remains the most widely supported, followed by n41, n1 and n77.

GSA expects continued growth and increasing detail as more devices reach the market and become available in its GAMBoD database.

2G-3G Switch-Off Annex for Members and Associates

The global transition away from 2G and 3G networks is gathering pace as operators seek to modernize infrastructure and reallocate spectrum for faster 4G and 5G technologies. By December 2025, GSA identified 303 completed, planned or in progress 2G and 3G switch-offs in 88 countries and territories, underlining the continuing interest and investment in this strategy.

Europe leads globally in switch-off activity, accounting for 44% of all cases, followed by Asia (27%) and North America (7%).

This update also highlights that although some shutdowns are operator-led, others are mandated by corporate groups. For example, Orange Group aims for full 2G and 3G phase-outs across Europe by 2030.

Other key points:

  •                     136 operators in 68 markets have completed or planned 2G shutdowns, with 46 of these already executed.
  •                    167 operators in 67 markets are progressing on 3G switch-offs, 80 of which have already completed the transition.
  •                    Many operators stated that they would complete the process in 2025; however, given that 2025 is drawing to a close, some are likely to complete in 2026.
  •                    A majority (55%) of operators retiring older networks are upgrading to both 4G and 5G.

FWA Catalogue February 2022 – Version 5.1

Update: Issue 5.1 – April 2022: Removed Askey, Unisoc, Zhongmi, Inseego, ASR Micro, Greenpacket.

The Fixed Wireless Access Device Ecosystem Directory contains an overview of the growing number of companies involved in the 3GPP Fixed Wireless Access Device Ecosystem.

Companies are grouped according to where they sit in the ecosystem (ie. Chipset Suppliers, Module Suppliers or Device Suppliers), and for each company a single page overview of who they are and where further information can be obtained is provided. A simple overview of all Fixed Wireless Related products being marketed at the time of issue by each company is also included.

As a living document published on the GSA Website the intent is to keep this updated with new companies or offerings to enable all those involved in the development (or assessment) of the ecosystem or procurement of the resulting devices to identify potential partners.

Established in late 2020, the GSA 4G-5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Forum brings together leading infrastructure, chipset, module, and device suppliers  to promote 4G and 5G FWA technology, products and services – to report on progress of FWA deployments, identify use cases and encourage global adoption.

3GPP based FWA is already widely used globally, and its adoption keeps growing fast with over 484 operators investing in 4G/5G FWA according to the GSA FWA report from Nov 2020. In addition, the current Covid-19 pandemic situation further illustrates the pivotal role connectivity and FWA can play as people work, study and socialize on-line. FWA can be a life changer by ensuring the availability of strong and reliable broadband connectivity wirelessly to people wherever they are, whatever they do. Connecting the unconnected was already a fundamental priority in a normal world, but, as we are seeing with the terrible pandemic situation that we are still facing, our mission to accelerate people’s access to broadband connectivity through 4G/5G FWA is only becoming more critical. This is true for developing as well as developed economies.

However one challenge for the industry in such a rapidly evolving market is to learn from each other, promote successful experiences and identify directions in technical development. By complementing the existing activities of our members, the GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum is committed to representing the natural voice of the fixed wireless ecosystem for operators and regulators globally.

The GSA 4G-5G FWA Forum’s “FWA Device Ecosystem Company Directory” is our first deliverable in our plan to facilitate interactions between the FWA ecosystem and MNOs globally. This document aims to educate the market about the variety of players of all sizes ready to help provide best of breed FWA service experience all over the world. The Forum is working on new initiatives that will keep improving the visibility of the various end user FWA devices available from our members to further promote the product information sharing between suppliers and operators. Stay tuned!

Why GSA Brochure 2022

Introducing the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA)

Since its inception in 1998, GSA has been promoting and supporting its Members in the deployment of standardized mobile technologies via research initiatives and globally focused reports.

Today, that research and reporting has greatly expanded from 2G-3G devices to cover everything from 4G-5G devices, mobile networks, fixed wireless networks, deployed mobile technologies, chipsets and far beyond.

More recently, there has been a growing focus on spectrum allocations, pricing, and usage. GSA also has an increasing global reputation for promoting the 3GPP technology roadmap and producing distinctive reports based on the current status of the industry. These reports, along with access to the underlying industry data stored in the GSA GAMBoD databases, complements the individual research of Members and Associates enabling them to refine and enhance their own strategies.

Welcome to GSA

About Global mobile Suppliers Association and how to get the most out of the Association as a Member, Associate or Subscriber.

GSA (the Global mobile Suppliers Association) is a not-for-profit industry trade body representing companies across the worldwide mobile ecosystem who are engaged in the supply of infrastructure, semiconductors, test equipment, devices, applications and mobile support services.

Focus

GSA actively promotes the 3GPP technology road-map – 3G; 4G; 5G – and is a single source of information for industry reports and market intelligence. Members drive the GSA agenda and define the communications and development strategy for the association.

History

GSA was formed in October 1998 with the objective to promote the interests of its mobile suppliers, to report on industry progress and the global deployment and availability of 3GPP technologies.

In 2009, GSA launched the industry database GAMBoD, GSA Analyser for Mobile Broadband Devices, with access limited to GSA Member companies.  In 2017 GAMBoD was extended to include coverage of Networks, Technologies and Spectrum and was renamed GSA Analyser for Mobile Broadband Databases. Today GAMBoD is renown for its up-to-date industry information and is the basis for all GSA reports. Access is also open to non-Members via an annual Associate subscription.

Accessing GSA resources

User registration

To download GSA reports a user registration must be completed via the GSA web site at:
https://gsacom.com/registration.

Access to GSA resources is linked to the  user email domain so it is important that users register with their company email address wherever possible.

General access

Many GSA reports are free to download by Subscribers who have registered through the GSA website and logged-in. These reports generally contain high level executive summaries, generalised data and charts that share the latest facts and figures the GSA research team have collected.

GSA Members and Associates can also promote their own industry white papers and presentations via the GSA web site and these are also freely available for Subscribers to download.

Industry Representations

GSA is a Market Representation Partner in 3GPP, an Associate Representative of CITEL and co-operates with other key organisations including ETSI, GSMA,  ITU, CEPT-ECC, COAI and other industry bodies.
